The ivanpah solar electric generating system 392 mw located 40 miles 60 km southwest of las vegas and developed by brightsource energy and bechtel is the world s largest solar thermal power project. The state has a law that at least 50 of all electricity shall come from carbon emission free by the year 2030. The project has received a 1 375 billion loan guarantee from the united states department of energy.

California law requires at least 50 percent of the state s electricity to come from noncarbon producing sources by 2030. This progressive ruling is the first of its kind in the us and is leading the nation to a cleaner energy future. California has several large concentrated solar power plants.
